Traxxas Maxx is a popular choice among 1/10 monster truck enthusiasts, but how does it stack up against the newly released Mini Maxx? Which is better? To answer 2 questions, we’ve done extensive research. Now, let’s break it down and compare them across several key aspects, so you can make an informed decision fast.
Vehicle | Mini Maxx | Maxx |
Scale | 1/14 | 1/10 |
Power System | 2S | 4S |
Top Speed | 30+ mph | 60+ mph |
Motor | BL-2S 3300 Kv | BL-4S 2400 Kv |
Size | 345×253×137mm (L×W×H) | 572×405×232mm (L×W×H) |
Performance
It’s clear that the Maxx packs nearly twice the power of the Mini Maxx. With its 4S power system, it delivers higher speeds and superior traction, making it a true basher. Pull the trigger, and the Maxx transforms into an all-around performer, perfect for speed runs or pulling off stunts like wheelies, ramp sends, and backflips.
The Mini Maxx outclasses other mini-scale monster trucks on the market. To deliver top-tier performance, it incorporates a host of 1/10 scale parts, including driveline components, the power system, servo, and suspension. As a result, it has to make the most of its internal space, leading to a tightly packed layout you can easily spot in its design.
BTW, an RC enthusiast in the community said: “Mini Maxx handles well, but compared to the Maxx 4S, it falls a bit short in power—it can’t deliver that higher punch. It’s mostly geared toward beginners /kids.” I couldn’t agree more. That said, Traxxas offers excellent parts support, so you can upgrade the Mini Maxx’s power system to 3S and hit speeds of 50+ mph.
Durability
When it comes to durability, the Maxx takes the lead with its beefier components, such as thicker arms and shocks. These parts are built tough, capable of withstanding heavy impacts during intense bashing sessions.
The Mini Maxx, while solid, falls slightly behind. As mentioned earlier, it uses 1/10 scale parts and inherits the Maxx platform’s design, but its durability doesn’t quite match up to the Maxx’s ruggedness.
Scale and Size
Traxxas doesn’t officially specify the Mini Maxx’s scale, but based on our measurements, we’d peg it at 1/14 scale. IMO, it’s more like a “backpack basher,” making it far more portable than the 1/10 scale Maxx. Plus, its smaller size makes it versatile—it’s just as fun tearing it up on rough terrain as it is cruising around your backyard or the neighborhood. You’re ready to roll anytime, anywhere!!!
The Maxx, on the other hand, is an absolute beast. With its powerful performance, long-travel suspension, and high ground clearance, it’s built to dominate tougher outdoor terrains like loose dirt, mud, and snow.
Which is Better?
Overall, both are well-built vehicles from Traxxas.
Mini Maxx is a great entry-level option for beginners/kids and also makes for an excellent backpack basher. If your garage is missing a mini scale vehicle, Mini Maxx is definitely worth considering.
Maxx, on the other hand, is a high level monster truck and ranks as one of the best 1/10 monster trucks out there.
