Spektrum NX6 vs. NX7e vs. NX8

Spektrum’s release of the NX7e transmitter has generated a lot of discussion. How does it differ from the popular NX6 and NX8?

Simply put, aside from the difference in the number of channels, the NX7e transmitter is a more budget-friendly option. It lacks the WIFI and voice alert functions that NX6 and NX8 have, but NX7e still includes all the essential functions you need.

Now, let’s delve into an in-depth analysis of their differences to help u make decision best.

Channels

First, let’s compare the channels among the 3 transmitters. Choosing the right number of channels depends entirely on your needs. The NX6, with 6 channels, can control throttle, elevator, rudder, aileron, gear, and flap, which already meets the needs of most RC airplanes. More complex RC airplanes, which include features like smoke or light system, require the NX7e or NX8. Additionally, even if you don’t need that many channels now, having an extra one or two can be beneficial for the future growth of your RC hobby.

It’s worth noting that the NX6’s seventh channel is not fully proportional, so it technically has only 6 proportional channels.

Voice-Audio Output and WIFI

To keep costs down, the NX7e lacks these two convenient smart features, making the NX6 and NX8 better in terms of user experience. However, for new guys, these features might not be frequently used. Here’s what u need to know:

The NX7e only has beeping alerts, not voice alerts.

The NX7e requires a cable connection to a computer to update its firmware.

Appearance and Screen

Compared to the predominantly black NX6 and NX8, the NX7e stands out with its modern white appearance, representing an innovative attempt by Spektrum. Contrary to the common belief that it would easily get dirty, the NX7e is actually very easy to clean.

NX7e has a smaller screen size of 2.8″, while both NX6 and NX8 are 3.2″.

Summary

All in all, the best transmitter depends on several factors: budget, the number of channels required for your RC airplanes & helis, and the desired functions. In my opinion, NX6 and NX7e are excellent choices for new guys, while NX8 or NX10 are great for those looking to advance. These higher-end radios can support u throughout your entire RC hobby journey.
