Traxxas Mini Maxx vs. Summit vs. Teton

So far, Traxxas has released three mini-scale monster trucks: the Mini Maxx, Summit, and LaTrax Teton. While their sizes may differ, they each have distinct features. In the following breakdown, we’ll dive into what sets them apart, helping you save time and make an informed decision with ease.

Table of Contents

Mini Maxx

  • Scale: 1/14
  • Size: 345 × 253 × 137mm
  • Power System: 3757 Brushless
  • Top Speed: 30+ mph
  • Highlight: High Speed Basher

Though it’s a mini-scale, Traxxas equipped the Mini Maxx with a 1/10 scale 2S brushless power system, includes motor, ESC, driveline. The 3757 3300Kv motor delivers serious traction, carrying forward the Maxx series’ signature acceleration. Compared to the Summit and Teton, the Mini Maxx has lower ground clearance, making it more stable and easier to handle during high-speed runs.

With these performance features, the Mini Maxx can effortlessly pull off stunts like donuts, ramp sends, and wheelies. Like a little beast!

BTW, this monster truck’s upgradability is another big plus. It’s been a hot topic at our local RC club, with many people thinking Traxxas will continue to roll out a series of mini-scale vehicles to compete with rivals like the Arrma Granite. Because of this, future parts support from Mini Maxx is expected to get even better.

Looking for brushless power to give you a serious bashing blast? Then this might just be the perfect choice for you!

Summit

  • Scale: 1/16
  • Size: 320 × 265 × 190mm
  • Power System: 550 Brushed
  • Top Speed: 20+ mph
  • Highlight: All-terrain Basher

The Summit’s suspension travel gives it higher ground clearance, meaning it’s not built for speed like other monster trucks. Instead, it’s designed specifically for all-terrain action. You can remotely lock the differentials to get crawler-like off-road performance to tackle tough terrain, or leave them unlocked for bashing fun.

Compared to the Mini Maxx, the Summit is about the same size, but with its brushed power system, it’s not as fast. However, when it comes to handling rough terrain and outdoor adventures, the Summit is the clear winner.

Teton

  • Scale: 1/18
  • Size: 258 × 183 × 118mm
  • Power System: 370 brushed
  • Top Speed: 23+ mph
  • Highlight: Backpack Basher

The Teton is perfect for driving indoors, in the backyard, or outdoors, and its compact size makes it super easy to carry around—truly a “Backpack Basher.” Its power and size are ideal for kids, and the training mode helps them learn to drive more easily. Unlike toy-grade vehicles, the Teton offers hobby-grade quality, and you won’t need to worry about parts breaking without replacement, thanks to Traxxas’ excellent aftermarket and parts support.

Looking for a high-quality RC vehicle as a gift for a child? IMO, the Summit or Teton would make an awesome choice!
