Corally vs. Arrma, Which One is Better?

Many people often compare Corally and Arrma, and it’s undeniable that their vehicles share similarities in platform design, and even in appearance and naming. But what sets them apart???

Let’s dive into 4 key areas, include support, durability, performance, and smart tech—to break down the diffs. By the end, you’ll have a clear understanding of each brand’s strengths, helping you make a smart and informed decision with ease.

Support

From what I know, Corally is a Belgium-based company primarily focused on the EU market. While they gained early recognition, their product line and global presence have since been outpaced by Arrma, which is now owned by the U.S. company Horizon Hobby. I’d estimate that Arrma’s market share is more than 10 times that of Corally.

In the RC car world, Arrma and Traxxas have become the two leading brands. No matter where you are—EU, US, or elsewhere—Arrma consistently offers better customer support and parts availability compared to Corally.

Durability

When it comes to durability, Arrma is the clear winner. Why? IMO, it’s all about the details in their parts. Designed for high-performance bashers, Arrma uses tough, flexible plastics for their parts, along with thicker arms, dirt guards, and aluminum chassis stiffeners. These features make Arrma vehicles built to withstand hard bashing, minimizing breakage from impacts, rough landings, and crashes.

This also means lower tinkering coooosts in the long run.

Performance

When comparing vehicles of the same class, the parts specs of Arrma and Corally are quite similar, and their run performance is nearly identical. This has led some to believe that Corally is essentially a clone of Arrma. For example:

BrandVehicleTop speedMotorESCScale
CorallyKAGAMA 4s50+ mph4068-2150kv 4-pole135A 2S-4S1/10
ArrmaKraton 4s55+ mph3668-2400Kv 4-pole120A 3S-4S1/10

Run Speed: Clearly, Arrma has a slight edge here.

Traction: Corally, with its higher-torque motor and ESC capable of handling more current, delivers slightly better power in tough terrain.

So, when it comes to performance, it’s hard to declare a definitive winner between the two.

Smart Tech

You might already know that Arrma power system is powered by Spektrum Smart tech. The Smart ESC provides real-time data on motor and battery performance, which is sent directly to your transmitter, allowing you to monitor and adjust settings on the fly.

Additionally, Spektrum Smart batteries paired with a Smart charger offer features like plug-and-play functionality, making operation simple and safe.

These smart tech features are incredibly useful for both beginners and experienced racers alike.

BTW, Spektrum’s Smart Tech ecosystem is closed-source, which means making changes or upgrades can be more complicated and costly. It’s part of their strategy to lock you into their system, making it harder to switch to other brands.

On the other hand, Corally, while lacking smart tech, offers more flexibility when it comes to modifications.

Some in the hobby community believe that “smart tech is just a nice-to-have; performance is what really matters.” Of course, YMMV.
